Another mountain lion attack. 1 guy killed and another injured.

The younger brother fled only after he was seriously wounded, or so it may be assumed:

"The 18-year-old suffered “traumatic injuries” to his face and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, the sheriff's office said."

So, he basically fled for his life.

Perhaps he knew that what was happening to his brother or perhaps he didn't. But he probably understood that the beast was too lethal to combat on his own so he likely determined that getting help was his and his brother's best hope.

Do you expect him to step back into it's jaws after he just escaped being mauled? Is that wise?

The younger brother is probably very lucky to be alive, and it is hard to find any fault with his actions, imo.

Sometimes family or friends can fight the beast off, sometimes they can’t, all just like in the wild in nature. Big cats are way too strong for their size.

Yes, I agree.

There are precautions that can be taken to reduce the risk of these kinds of outcomes. Bear Spray is one and I have bought some and bring it along, and it comes with a holster worn on the outside of your coat or jacket for quick retrieval should you need it,

My understanding is that the iPhone 15 has the same satellite SOS capability but I haven’t looked into it much.
