It’s an inner he doesn’t have a lawyer. He would be reinstated on proof of precedent. It’s happened many times in many states with the same “rule.”

Banned from LetsRun????
Stayed up all night on the World Famous Message Board? That would explain his poor performances!
Hope the state HS athletics admins are happy. What a disgrace.
Completely stupid and I bet a decent lawyer could indeed frighten these fools off.
Or he just transfer to a private school probably and be done with the public school clown show.
These rules need to be rewritten. Also, adults, especially those in education, should be doing what is best for children. Mississippi should be proud and supportive they have a distance star.
Taught that hippie a lesson, yes sir. Got 'em good. That whatcha get for messin' 'round with the MHSAA. Don't go tryin' to race outside the season. We watch our footbalkl players this close, too. Nothing gets by us, no sir.
This is definitely ridiculous! I live in Mississippi and I follow scholastic running very closely. Our state is probably 50 out of 50 when it comes to distance running and a lot of other categories. Talent is the same as everywhere but the coaching and support for the sport is terrible. You can be a high school distance coach in Mississippi and have no idea what you are doing. That is way more common than good coaching which is a almost nonexistent except for a couple of programs. Even with all the information on the web, Mississippi distance coaches are too lazy to care to even learn how to train athletes and advise them in racing. That being said, Andrew Brown should be celebrated rather than banned. He is a good kid who is talented and from a good family. He runs for Tupelo High school which happens to have good coaching and a long history of running success.I think it is a travesty and I hope it can be appealed and the decision reversed. All he did is run one outdoor meet here in Mississippi and then went to New Balance Indoor Nationals to compete and represent Mississippi and for his success now he is banned. It is not a good look for my home state and I sure hope it is overturned
All he had to do was register under his school name based on the rule
Definitely a bad deal for this young runner.
Somewhat related, our high school has a freshman who ran 9:11 at NB (and doubled back with a 4:19). Does anyone know the national outdoor freshman record for the 2m/3200? I'm not sure he can get under 9, but certainly ~9:05 area.
It may have been set last night by another Florida freshman, 8:55 at FSU.
I'm not sure if there are official class records but Vince Recupero of Bishop Blanchet WA ran 9:00.11 in 2022.
This is nonsense.
He was banned from the OUTDOOR season, even though NBIN is for the INDOOR season.
Hopefully he finds some other non-HS-related races he can compete in.
Good thing he is a freshman so he got 3 more years + 4 or 5 more after that if he runs in college.
Keegan Smith (TN) (Junior) ran a 8:52 3200 freshman year
If you only understood the hypocrisy driving this decision! Take your competition out any way you can, literally!
Assuming you are the father, please hire an attorney for your son and challenge this decision
Once you are eligible for outdoor season in my state, you can’t compete unattached. The solution: don’t file eligibility until after you finish whatever races you want to do as an unattached runner. That’s not that hard to do, and it appears to me as if that would have been the way to do it in MS.
OK Ill bite, what is the purpose of the rule? Just to entrap people? He must not have known the rule. And...why would he?
