They’re just doing this as a workout. After they’ll do some turf tempo loops. They haven’t even started speed work yet, and doing one race still allows all these guy to redshirt this season. It’s all part of the plan.

What an embarrassing statement. Schumacher couldn't even field a team for a year and a half.

Has anyone had a worse year than Schumacher? His pro team has evaporated and he hasn't even been able to put out a product in Oregon yet. He still can turn it around no doubt, but its got to be a career low point for him.

Jerry keeps his runners shackled in a hole in his basement droning on about badger miles and burritos. It worked quite well for the millennial set as they were used to trying to squeeze love out of their neglectful self-absorbed parents but these Gen-Zers are not going to like it. Hence the Oregon program will go down the skibidi toilet.

Vin won titles and had the guys racing. Same with Powell...

What really would be the point of redshirting track guys in xc and indoors only to let them compete outdoors? So, I'd guess that unless he's getting pressure from upstairs (Phil Knight) or they set the world on fire at this meet, he's going to race them this one time and redshirt them. We know that Birnbaum can still redshirt. Would Harrison still have a redshirt available if he had a medical redshirt last year for mono?

If they are such a great track school, they should build a track

To emphasize this point - Vin took over the Oregon Men's XC team under similar circumstances like Jerry did - a relatively weak team with a depleted roster that need to be completely rebuilt. The big difference being that by year 2, Vin won the Pac-10, won the West Regional (in a year 8 teams qualified!) and got 5th at nationals while Jerry, on the other hand, got 3rd and 7th(!) in historically weak Pac-10s and West Regional. thus failing to qualify for nationals.

You can’t “race one time and then redshirt” unless you get hurt and have supporting medical documentation. Once you run a meet you’ve burned your season

Jerry doesn’t realize that half of his guys don’t care about turning pro. Being an All-American, beating their friends at other schools, and winning titles means a lot to them and he’s not getting it. And that doesn’t include the alumni who are wondering if the team still exists.

I'm not alum, but it feels like an insult to U.S. track fans. no production over there
