Details of Monson DNF

Stomach issues. She was “waddling” to the restroom right after dropping out.

Hopefully it's something temporary and relatively easy to resolve like that. I haven't seen any reports.

A while back she talked about being quite sick again this winter. And I think she's had covid at least twice before this year that she's mentioned. In most cases that may not be much of a long-term concern for the general population, but an elite athlete only needs to have their aerobic capacity impacted 1 or 2% to lose 20-30 seconds in a race like the 10k. The good news is she was in fine form last spring/summer, so maybe it's not impacting her.

Bicarbonate loading didn't work.

Did LRC have a reporter in attendance that could have asked Monson what happened?

Also, what happened to Infeld?

When Monson dropped out she walked slowly across the infield but she didn't seem like she was in any kind of distress, or limping from an injury.

I saw her in line for the bathroom before the race, but so were lots of other runners so I'm not reading anything into that.

Did Monson or Ritz say she had stomach issues? Or are you just guessing based on her using the bathroom after the race?

Has anyone checked her social media?

Not sure. But when she dropped out, she kind of jogged off the track and put her hands in the air and appeared to yell something to someone on the infield but I am not sure what. She just looked fatigued- I don’t really understand why her and Monson both dropped out but I hope everything is fine. Neither of them were limping or appeared to be in distress after the fact

I’m guessing Monson and Infeld had menstrual cramps.

Team Boss happened to her yesterday

Zhit happens. I'm sure having an ultra high expectations didn't help up.

She just posted on Instagram and confirmed she got some type of stomach bug and was in the bathroom the rest of the night.

When your 'run' takes on a totally different meaning.

Not sure, and I'm a fan, but I don't see how you move to Los Angeles as a means of elevating your running performance.

I wonder if it had anything to do with her stalker. That seemed to really mess with her mentally/physically/emotionally etc.

I find it interesting a year or so ago right after Bates + Fauble were top Americans in Boston everyone on here was very pro Team Boss and now everyone is hating on them. Injuries happen and things ebb and flow, let’s give them some grace. Infeld PR’d in the 5000m last year so hoping yesterday was just an off day.

They go into the locker room and interview the loser of the Super Bowl and the World Series. Why don't they do the same here?

If you are a pro runner you live somewhere with consumistant high air quality. That will never be LA.

Sucks she got sick, but glad it was nothing more serious.
