This race proves that Mike Smith isn't the only great coach. New Mexico's coach got Habtom to almost beat Nico, and Habtom is a year younger.
Nico took 3 years to reach his potential in the NCAA. New Mexico got Habtom to reach his in a few months.

Is it 26:41.75 WJR by the late Legend Samuel Wanjiru who ran the world junior record during Kenenisa Bekele WR?

thats what i'm saying, what did nico add to his training to improve so much?
Possibly cross-training…on an Arc Trainer. 😎

That was Almgren at 26.54 ?
Saw now…26.52…that is a Swedish record by 63 seconds….I attended at the former, by Johnny Danielsson back in 1989…..
Rojo live feed on you tube now - think Nico 26.52 and the number of guys under 27 merits that… easy for west coast guy to say tho…

Wild to think Charles Hicks bested Nick for the NCAA XC title a little over a year ago and now Nico finishes a 10k 41 seconds ahead.
Jerry magic baby
Congrats Nico, I’m going to bed
Rojo, you never cease to become a blubbering idiot. Fisher came to this race with one goal, Break 27. He didn’t need to carry the field or take the pace. They were running fine. Maybe at the most they were 1-2 seconds off the lights. One would think that a professional journalist like yourself would understand the nuances of a time trial!
it’s obvious when Grant picked up his bib today he signed in under “individual”.
Also have to say - I’m thankful for flo track - I watched race - I think bunch of you guys complaining probably complain about taxes etc but think someone should be showing this live as a public service. Commentators were pretty good too - anyone know who they were?
OAC was very much the Off Athletics Club today. Monson DNF, klecker way off the back, mcdonald injured. Could not picture a worse day.

But can Habtom beat Young at the trials?

I thought the same about Parker Wolfe a year ago. I was wrong. Samuel shoud stay put and move to Flag when he gets paid to do so.
It was superrrr easy for Grant today

Unrelated to thread: is an elliptical as beneficial as the arc trainer?
I hope Luis Grijalva gets healthy!

…but YMMV.
With Nico and Habtum running 26:52 and 26:53 I wonder what Parker Wolfe could have run in this race?
