Bummer we'll never get to see him win NCAA XC, but good for Nico. His value is the highest it's ever been, and I'm excited to see him go all in on running during an Olympic year. US pro distance running is about to get a brighter.
Kind of crazy that NAU is about to lose every single runner from 2023 nationals (Gorgas technically has 1 more year of eligibility) from their nationals roster.
It was Tokyo Olympic Trials 2021, It is not just the Writer who goofed, but also the Editor is SUPPOSED TO check the article before letting it go to print, and since The Writer did not know, he should have got AT LEAST 2 trustworthy sources.

I actually was hoping he'd just go pro now, but he intimates he wants to graduate and being in some sort of "pro but still in school holding pattern" might be a little strange. Yes, I hope he stays with Smith though it does seem like he does a lot of work solo at the moment. I bet Under Armour (Dark Sky) and NAZ Elite will throw a ton of money his way. And then Adidas/Nike will too, and just let him stick with Mike Smith you'd think.
hard to believe he's never had an NIL deal. his choice, obviously. he's playing the long game, betting on himself. if this really is his final NCAA season he's done an amazing job of timing it when his value is at its highest. should pay off with a massive contract.
What’s the point versus just signing a NIL? I guess getting to skips conference meets is a plus…
Not having to do a 3k/5k double before THE TEN would be nice as well
He didn’t have to double. Could have just run one. In exchange he is giving up a year of championship racing experience where he will be in contention with 800 to go instead of being 100m back. With the Olympics 4 years off their just isn’t a rush..
Lots of deserved upvotes. Shouldn't half of these be downvotes based on Republicans allegedly being so homophobic? It's almost like it's NOT NEARLY the issue it's portrayed to be. Huh. Weird.
