Yeah Addisu Yihune asked for 13:10-15 through 5k for Kejelcha. Naman Kipyego there to pace Cheptegei I think, perhaps Cheptegei aiming "just" for sub 27 but would be a surprising sight to see the 10000 WR holder let Kejelcha go right from the start. 58:53 half marathoner Hillary Chepkwony also announced to race
I’m going to be the opinion of negativity here. I dint think cheptegei will ever rise to his previous levels after that recent marathon. I hope I’m wrong, but I think he’s done unrepairable damage to his body.
I will recommend everyone read this translated preview it is spectacular. But reading it to me it sounds like Kejelcha might win going away if he’s feeling good. Cheptegei seems to be going for a qualifying mark (and he’s he’s running World XC). Yomif probably doesn’t race again until May or June on the DL circuit.
The road 10k world record is 26:24. If you’re referring to the 10000m wr, somebody already has touched 26:17 as the current wr is 26:11 set in 2020 by Joshua Cheptegei.
Hello friends, You should follow Juan Carlos Higuero on X, former Spanish runner who now serves as a presenter in many races in Spain. He will be the one to report the event this weekend along with Javi Guerra (by the way, another great athlete). Here in Argentina I was able to see last year's edition won by Berihu Aregawi for free on YouTube. I hope this year is the same.
