It's actually impressive how calmly he talks about himself in the third person.

I know you want to equally shade the current era in defense of your glorious favorite past era, but they are still different.

The former full blown use of undetectable substances and processes (epo and blood doping) is not comparable at all to current 24/7 microdosing, gaming the timing of missed tests, and timing 3-5 day getaways in practically untestable locations.

So we're supposed to believe he's so talented he dominates a field of dopers?

No, we're supposed to believe that training as a professional runner, in a family of professional runners, with a professional coach as his father, since age 13, PLUS his immense talent is what made him the best in the world. Not saying its any more believable, just painting a more realistic picture of why one might argue Jakob is clean.

To me, it sounds like he is justifying doping by claiming everyone does it. You know, just in case he ever slips up and gets nabbed.

Remember how he presented himself as clean...having passed 500+ drug tests. All the while competitor who could not stay with him were getting popped for drugs left and right.

Alberto Salazar said it best when he said anyone who makes it on the podium is dirty.

and so he joined the cheaters by juicing his athletes starting with Mary Decker Slaney and ending with the Nike Oregon Project being blown up.

Geerts was not a professional coach. He has never coached before he started coaching his sons.

So let’s rephrase this:

Jakob is coached by his father, a self taught coach, who never coached before. With a brother that appeared on the likely doping list. In a country that never tested anyone under 18.

Not saying he’s doping. Just painting a realistic picture of why it seems like it.

Not to be THAT guy but…. She failed a later deemed outdated and unreliable test. And not a single person at NOP(aside from magness) failed a test of any kind or broke any technical doping rules aside from Alberto. That doesn’t mean they weren’t but the point stands it takes one to know one. Which is why lance and Alberto were so close “they knew how to push”.. push the limits of whatever you can get your dirty hands on.

This “In a country that never tested anyone under 18.”: It’s simply not correct. -Almost none were tested in 2019, 2020 and 2021 (and parts of 2022) because of new rules from the authorities (department of culture) when it comes to athletes between 15 and 18 years old. But before 2019 and after fall 2022 the testing rate was normal…

Conclusion: Jakob has been tested all the way.

Yes, Gjert was an uneducated coach. But he leant heavily on Marius Bakken, who developed the ground breaking “Norwegian method”.

Yes, older brother Henrik was on Wada’s list “Likely doping”, based on his blood pass. But one of Norway’s most well renowned altitude / doping researchers, professor Jostein Hallen said there’s a reason why suspicions like this is without merit: Blood passes are so flawed (altitude training not implemented, measured or understood correctly) that they are useless. And we know Henrik did a lot of altitude training…

I neither am saying anything about doping or not. But there’s many ways to paint a picture…

Not the proper use of the slang word copium

I am genuinely surprised that people can be interested in the sport at all whilst thinking this. But besides that, this is the other end of the "delusional spectrum" - thinking that doping is not a big issue is delusional, but thinking that there are literally ZERO clean medalists or records this century is extremely unrealistic.

Especially considering it's not like every medal required a historic or even great time to win. If you're saying you need to be on drugs to run 20 flat in the 200 or run 12.6 in the 100m hurdles (or insert other good but not historic/top echelon times that routinely have won medals in less competitive years) then you are greatly underestimating human capability.
