Following Sara Benfares positive test, her father and coach Samir Benfares claims it was the result of medication given to treat a recent bone cancer diagnoses. This still fails to answer so many questions:
1. How did they not know that EPO was a banned substance? Sara and Sofia are professional athlete sponsored by Nike.
2. What about the positive test for testosterone? What about Sofia's positive test?

Germany has really bowed out of track and field these last couple years. I feel like this will open it up to folks who might be less reluctant to "do anything they need to do" in order to get to the next level. It is weird, but since Klosterhalfen, there hasn't really been much to cheer about in any event.
I hope this is just a case of doping and not actually cancer. If she is doping, she can stop and move on with her life. If it is cancer, that is 1000x worse!
But I don't think it is cancer since you would never give a person with cancer EPO and testosterone at the same time. That would be weird. I am not a doctor but that is what they are reporting in the German media.

Why not both? It's very common knowledge that doping can cause cancer. The most famous example being Lance Armstrong's cancer widely thought to have been caused by the massive amounts of drugs he took.
Now that her sister also was suspended it is hard to believe them anything anymore. Pharmacy students should know better. They were asked to leave their association.

These kids were raised by a Moroccan father in Paris, and now they are running faster than blonde Germans and proof of African genetics, so the liar Coevett must have tampered with their test samples!!

There must have been around a dozen distance running busts in Europe in the last few years, and nearly every one has been to an African descent runner. The only exception I can think of is the French woman marathoner. But if I remember correctly, even in that case she had a Moroccan husband and got the peds in Morocco.

This particular form of cancer seems to be highly infectious.
Although the German article above calls it BS:
"I asked four Saarland doctors and they all said: Please, testosterone and EPO together, there is a suspicion of doping in a young athlete. EPO for cancer, yes, perhaps. But definitely not testosterone, why should it be."

This brings up to about a dozen the number of national federations who've had Moroccan born/parented distance runners busted for EPO. Do they actually teach "sh*$ting on sport" as part of whatever goes in their schools? I think per capita of top runners they are far worse dopers than the Kenyans
It's seems to be getting more and more common for very young athletes to be doping. Surely someone in their world could tell them it is a very bad idea. Who is her coach?
