Well info what Kerley says is true that he has asked to be put on the 4 x 4 team in the past and was not allowed on he has a point. Seems like there are rules for Team USA and then there are rules for certain athletes that TV will love the story

of course there are. you have to market your best athletes and if you have a potential storyline that should take priority.

Kerley didn't race at USATF Championships. If you want to be on the relay, you need to at least show up to the championships.

I'm no expert at the rules, but I believe this is the reason one would expect. Now if after other usa championships that Kerley participated in he wasn't asked to be in the relay pool, he's got a legitimate gripe with Usatf.

I'm sure Kerley wanted to get selected to an outdoor 4x400 team where all of America's best 400 meter runners, including collegians, are trying to be on the team. Indoor a lot of top 400 m runners are lest interested so it is MUCH easier to make the relay.
