Also an American that likes to cheer for Bol. But due to my grandfather having 100% Dutch heritage, I have a different reason to cheer for Bol

I think Bol and Mu are really easy to root for as they are more outgoing and Syd is more reserved and of course never races.

So is Sydney - she’s predominantly racially white. Probably has some big, bad, mean high IQ blue eyed ancestors you can hate over too. But, then you’d be hating her..ooopss..

Mu raced at World Champs and still went toe-to-toe with all the medalists.
She competed, and competed against the best.

I am quite brown, and assure you that I too will be rooting for Bol. Sydney is an exceptional talent, but rarely races and only seems to come alive when she is away from the track. She's all business, which I respect but also find a lot less fun.

Bol is out here racing indoors and outdoors, competing in the mixed and women's relays, and has consistently been the bridesmaid not the bride while losing to Sydney. I'd rather root for the underdog in this event in Paris.

People cheer for Santa Claus over those two, at least he shows up once a year 🎅

If Bol can manage to run a WR time in the 400h before the Olympics it would really mess with the BS NBC Syd hype machine already churning in it's pre Paris ads.

...That would be a delightful development and put a high degree of pressure on Syd that might finally get to her. Right now she lives among a bunch of yes-men/women around her that allows her delusion that competing isn't necessary for her.

I hope that happens....but I'm still rooting for Bol because she's a true delight to watch. Contagious actually.

I’ll always root for Americans, yet Sydney makes it hard to be a fan of hers by the way she approaches racing and seems not to have any enjoyment with being a pro athlete. Femke has a wonderful attitude and seems to be enjoying herself and having fun. What good is going through life if you’re given this incredible talent by God and can’t have fun and find joy in it?

You people who think gawd dispenses talent like party favors to some while apparently being ok with gawd dispensing abject misery to others are just childish and frankly scary.
