Congratulations, Maia! So looking forward to the final. How can anyone not be supporting her? Such a great thing for Harvard, for NCAA D1 sport, and for New Zealand.
If it was a great thing for New Zealand why isn't Kimberly "Kimbers" May there?

Is there a video online freely available of Maia’s race? World Championships is supposed to be a big deal, and there are not video clips of the semi’s? How expensive can that be in this day and age, when there is a ton of junk, like cat videos or whatever, freely available out there?
It's on Peacock. Ramsden hung toward the back most of the race, moved up a bit with two to go and kicked hard the final lap for third. She was well ahead of 4th but pretty far behind second.
She showed really strong closing speed here, 32.07/30.8. I am not sure if there are any challengers in the NCAA who can close that fast off a quick pace.
Thanks. I think the fact this sport tries to extract money from casual viewers hurts the athletes.
This girl is now as fast as Tuohy. Will be interesting to see how much farther her trajectory takes her beyond Tuohy.

At 1500/mile. At 3000 and 5000 remains to be seen.

Yeah, it will take her more time of development to cut her 5000m time. Doesn’t she now look leaner and more fit than last spring when she won at Outdoors?

Tuohy only ran one indoor mile last season and no indoor 1500s. And as I noted her Millrose race was not properly paced, which robbed her of a great chance at 4:23. Point is, record or not, this will be the third stab at it in two months in another ideal setting. We have no ide what KT could have run if she ran in fast miles over and over. Good luck.
Sort of stating the obvious, no? We don’t know how fast she could run a 10,000m, either, unless she took some cracks at it. We don’t know how fast she could run a marathon, either, until…

Besides the fact Tuohy has probably run considerably more indoor (and probably outdoor) track races than Ramsden??

I just think it’s interesting on how the ladies are developing, Ramsden, Markezich, Valby, Maatoug, etc. In some cases, now their trajectory has surpassed Tuohy. That’s not a knock on Tuohy; she is obviously one of the top tier young Americans; but no longer far and ahead.
Except we have an actual result to indicate which she could run, and a decent extrapolation based on how that race unfolded. Although I still think 10000m would be a perfect distance for her.

Welp. Tuohy's 1500m indoor record lives another day. Ramsden 4:06.88. Good run by her.
Even though she is the same age as Tuohy, this is her third year of competing in the NCAA (per TFRRS), so se gets another year of undergrad eligibility to improve her collegiate time.

She's fit right now, so another shot at it this weekend at NCAA. No dmr so just heat and final, then maybe 3000.
But she would probably have to front-run the 1500m at Natty’s to have a shot at the record; at least she won’t get stuck at the back-of-the-pack, like today’s race. But she won’t be getting pace setting help from pros, either.
