so no time qualifiers applies to indoors too. Yeah Kessler has to be on his A game tactically or he gonna get bounced out. This is a whole another level compared to a us semi.
Hocker getting a preview of Tefara which will be cool to see. Not worried about him. His kick is good enough no matter what position he is in to secure top 3. Just don’t get tripped up or do something that could risk being dq’d.
Femke Bol and Alexis Holmes have drawn into the same final heat, with Bol in lane 6 and Holmes in 5.
That's what I envisioned for the final.
It will be interesting to see how they play it today. Top 2 advance. It might be to Holmes' advantage to let Bol have the break this time, toward lulling her to sleep for the final. Or Holmes could view it as a grudge match from the outset.
Holmes will not be a challenge to Bol given this setup. Holmes had the relay leg of her life at Worlds last year, but this setup is completely different, no flying start, and there is a MASSIVE one second difference between their indoor pr's. Holmes won't even get silver in the individual, the Dutch women dominate easily this weekend.
The women's 800 heats look very unbalanced - heat 3 vs heat 5!
Yeah Wiley has a tough draw. But it's based on world rankings not merely season bests. It just happens that many women in that race -- including Wiley herself -- have season bests that are more impressive than their world ranking.
A combination is the proper way to do it. Power ratings matter. Fans would just rank them in order of the most recent best times, which is the equivalent of watching last week's football games and projecting everything to repeat the following week.

I don't understand why they didn't count performance scores from the semis at USATF Indoors. She has a slow 2:04.29 from NAIA Outdoor Nationals that is pulling her rank down. If they counted her 2:01.29 from the semi, her rank improves to #35. There would be no placing points but the performance score alone makes a big difference. I thought ALL races counted. Her semi at USATFs was a much higher caliber race than the final at NAIA.
On the other hand, this could have made things worse for her at Worlds. It looks like she would have been in heat 4 with Yarigo, Duguma, and Wilson. Duguma was put in this heat as a result of not having a world rank but she is tough. With only the top-2 guaranteed spots in the semis, I think this would have been a tougher draw. Wilson is probably going to need a "q" to advance. I think Wiley has USA's best chance to advance to the semis and possibly the final depending upon how her semi looks.
