I'm a high school freshman about to start outdoor track but am more so wondering about XC 5k progression and potential. I started running just casually in Spring 2023 but barely run at all over summer (20 miles over the course of June and July). I started training for XC right before the start of the school year, and opened with 24:36 on a flat, fast course which I then brought down to 21:08 on the same course. I ran 11 flat for a 3k on a track this saturday with over 15 mph winds, and am wondering if I will keep progressing at the same rate I did during XC season and if not, how fast I can get by senior year.
