Of course their prerogative, but really fascinating that they almost don’t exist. There was that period last year where everyone was irritated they weren’t competing and now it feels as if no one cares anymore it they compete.

racing is for people who arent guaranteed a spot on the team
Kersee's athletes rarely do indoors, don't think too much.
They’re skipping indoors like many athletes do. Like Bolt did.
Is Karsten Warholm retired?
Someone is afraid of FemkeMania.
Can't race much when you're glowing 24/7.

Levrone was on the Kelly Clarkson Show yesterday promoting her book, talking about her anxiety issues, and juggled three tennis balls to show how she relaxes before a race. Oh, she also mentioned something like not running in the Olympics.
JUST KIDDING! She didn't talk track at all. But the other stuff is true including the juggling.
Everyone afraid of TMADDDHASFNE The Creep.
Do you have kids?
Why do you creep on young women?
Do you see how that’s creepy?
Especially if you’re childless.
And old.
Syd is busy, she's got a book to sell and celebs to meet.

Filming hype content for the Paris Olympics even though she hasn't qualified for it
And about 10 other things I've seen her in related to her book and unrelated to actually running.
Bet $1000 she doesn't even go to Paris and decides to retire because ̶h̶e̶r̶ ̶h̶u̶s̶b̶a̶n̶d̶ God told her to.
Yes. I have stopped caring about these two. I used to be a big fan of both of them. They are amazing athletes.
Sydney is the least sympathetic and least interesting super-star of the modern era. She is the GOAT in her event and yet I could not care any less about what she is doing or promoting. She gives of a very strong "I would rather be somewhere else" vibe when she is on the track (or asked to talk about track).
Athing Mu seems a tiny bit better to me. I feel like she kind of likes running but also likes other things too. Most of her fans would like to see her give it 100% from the first meet of the indoor season to the last race of the DL but she's not a "race into shape" type athlete so that will never happen...
Bummer for us but she (and Sydney) don't have to do anything they don't want to do. And we don't have to be their fans. It will be cheering for Keely Hodgkinson and Femke Bol though for sure.
There's only one payday every four years. The NBC Burbank owned Olympic Games.
They live in L.A. for Christ Sakes.
So would you say you almost don’t exist?
Get them to race a 400 together in a small meet. Athing is not favoured but no shame if she loses - would get the fans happy. I don’t think Sydney has a shot at >600 and Athing below 400
Its February 9th, what are you expecting?? Athiing Mu broke the american record in her last race of the season last year. Calling her almost retired is absurd
I think OP means that, with a race of that caliber, you'd expect to hear more from her. Kerr won WC and has been very public about his plans and mindset going into an Olympic year. Likewise, Lyles has raced and makes himself available to the media. Meanwhile Mu is giving us nothing but crickets.
Maybe they lost the fire. They've made millions of dollars over the past few years, they have records and medals. Life is very comfortable for them, training hard and racing harder is not very comfortable.
And on the comment about Bolt. Bolt was known to be pretty lazy, he'd just turn it on after procrastinating and still be the best. He didn't race often because he was often out of shape and not ready.
They're on a different cycle (ha) than everyone else. Your average poster here, who is interested in if Ben True is still racing, is not the relevant market for them. Through whatever contracts, social media, book media, whatever, the economics of their lives are not that of a typical runner. The job is basically to show up and be part of the medal count. NBC will surely build up some promos in the way they do to sell Olympians to the average Americans. I'm sure they'll work the inactivity into the story.
