I cannot find any post race interviews by Scott. At least Galen Rupp manned up and did an interview!

I heard stomach issues
Because he is a talker.
…so you start a few threads after the races today and land on:
”Where do Jenny Simpson finish?”
”Why did Scott Fauble DNF?”
“Joe Bosshard is a terrible coach.”
Cool, guy.
He should have only had 2 Pop Tarts instead of 3.
it is always easier to run in the pack and move through to a good time,
than to run in a clutch situation and deliver.
fauble is good at chatting about marathoning, but not very good at racing them in clutch situations, with team qualifying on the line.
I was standing right where he dropped out... it was at about mile 18 right before they headed out for their last loop. He stumbled to one side of the course where he was told to go through the other barriers. He turned around to face the crowd that I was standing in, mouth agape and a sort of grimace on his mustached face. He didn't look all that bad, but you can never really tell what is going on within a man. He stepped through the barriers, and upon seeing someone he knew, he asked them a few words and was promptly directed in the direction of the finish line. Again, my read was that he didn't look all that bad, as he didn't have any sort of extreme hobble, nor was he keeled over while clinching his stomach..... who really knows!
Because he didn’t cross the finish line
Well Rupp finished. Probably bummed about missing out on that $1k from rojo
Was it the pop-tarts? Now I don't know if I can trust his burrito opinions cause pop-tarts taste like cardboard to me.
easy to talk crap today but he has performed at boston a couple of times and new york which are more competative that us marathon trials and not far off the olympics in some respects.
a bit of a misjudgement to say he chokes in big races but cant be happy with himself, and why on earth would an elite athlete whos in their 30s be eating terrible food on the biggest day of the year.
He ate pop tarts before running a successful race in high school, so he thought he’d also run well this race if he eats from the same lucky box.
waiting for Team Boss to do a video (with the appropriate music) explaining the very early DNF.
sometimes DNF makes sense, sometimes it's when you don't want a bad result next to your name or cos the dream of the team is over
It’s a wise move for a pro to DNF a marathon. There is a reason pros can only race 2 a year, because they are so physically taxing that it takes that long to recover and build back up. No other race carries that amount of load and strain. So for a Fauble(or Keira, or Chelimo, or Betsy) to get to a point and realize it’s not their day, why not pull the plug and maybe be able to run a spring major. There is no glory in a pro suffering through to finish in 20th place and not being able to race for another 6 months because of that.
marathons don't take 6 months to recover from. you can do 4 a year with proper tapers.
Yeah but, that marathon medal display in their living room above the fireplace will be missing a finishers medal. Why would you deprive yourself of that?
Also, he will have no finish line photos to buy later and frame from marathofoto!
This is not true. Sure, you could do one every month as well if you wanted to. but for an elite to race at the highest level, it’s 2 a year.
Exactly, those that have never run a hard thon before don’t understand this. Actually it’s dumb of anyone that didn’t have a shot at top 2 after mile 20 to have finished that race. It’s better to call it a day and hop in an April thon to try and win some prize money.
Could you post your marathoning resume?
