Surprised this did not come last year. How long will Evan be on the team?

Lopez retired in the fall of 2022 then moved to Europe with his wife . . . but neither he nor Nike/BTC made an official retirement announcement . . . which is unfortunate . . . because he, of all runners, deserved a grand sendoff . . .
Within the last week or so, Nike finally updated the BTC roster . . . removing Lomong, Cranny, Frerichs, Fraser, and Seccafien . . . while adding newcomers Knight, Hicks and Hamilton.
Was concerned about Schweizer . . . as some had speculated she was following training partner Cranny out the door . . . but no . . . she's still on the team . . . and appears to be all-in on getting back into shape and making it to Paris this summer.
Regarding Jager . . . he's the only remaining original member of the group Jerry brought out to Portland from Wisconsin back in fall 2008 . . . one would think this year is his last stand . . . especially since he's refused to move from Portland . . . but he's healthy now and back training with the team in Flagstaff . . . and with the US men not being all that great in the Steeple, could very well make it to Paris . . . then, with the carrot of the '28 LA Olympics dangling in front of him . . . decide to keep on going . . .
From the current roster of 11 . . . Josh Thompson would appear to be the most likely candidate to retire/not have his contract renewed beyond 2024 . . . wishing him the best . . . but in his lengthy career has never broken 3:35 outdoors . . . and appears to be falling further behind his US competitors . . .
Also, likely that Mo Ahmed will turn to the roads next year . . . with a marathon in his future . . . but with no other marathoners on BTC . . . may decide to pull up roots and join another team . . . however, that is just speculation, and still a year away . . .
Great info. Thx. We never received an explanation from Centro as to why he left BTC. This puzzles me because Josh is still there.
Lomong is done, Jager is done, and BTC is done. All three entities referenced here are done. Not even sure who is leaving whom.
Jager is done, you have to race in order to go after an Olympic slot. He hasn’t raced consistently and well in years. Drawing a line for him between now and 2028 is very strange and unrealistic.

3:57i and 7:47i last year and 3:37/13:13i/8:18 in 2022 are not nothing. He's not going to be sub-8:05 again but I don't think you can say he's totally written off.
DOPE
I am curious why there is no official "messaging" from the team about what their goals are. Obviously, "the Olympics" are on everyone's radar but more generally, who is BTC and what are they trying to do? Nobody knows anymore.
p.s. I am pro-Bowerman, so this is not intended as shade. It comes from a place of confusion on my (everyone's) part. Jerry, what the heck are you guys up to? What is the plan?

He’s certainly not going to be competing for medals anymore, but I wouldn’t totally write off him sneaking onto a few more US teams if he can stay healthy for a full season. It’s not like the US has an abundance of talent in the steeple right now.

Ten coming up with Ahmed, Mcgorty, Tuntivate (?)
10k oly team- ahmed (can), Mcgorty, Tuntivate (TH)
steeple Olympic team- hamilton
Between aging out and recurrent injury, I’d say Schweizer, Ratcliffe, Jager are pretty much done. Unfortunately, I don’t think Knight will ever get off the ground there.
Thompson might surprise but seems to be feast or famine. Aragon will need to step it up to have contract renewed after Paris.
Hicks is a future performer.
If Mo Ahmed shifts to the marathon, he should go train with Cam Levins. His current setup has certainly worked well for him.

Certainly not training up those Oregon track boys. Their results so far have been poor, to say the least. Cook and Erickson have run well but the results of Jerry's recruiting classes are still very thin.
