when was the last time centro ran sub-4 in january? skimming his WA profile I see 2017, 2016, 2015. idk if he's gonna be ready for indoor worlds (though I'm not putting it past him), but if he stays healthy, he'll be top 6 at the trials.

I think Centro has a better shot at making the team and hitting a OQ mark if someone beefs him and pisses him off. It’ll give him that extra rage to do his thing. Someone should do it. Centro really set the stage for this younger generation of American milers (including Engels when he was at his peak). It would be pretty cool to see his petty, stubborn, tactical, talented a** go out strong.
You are probably too young to remember the late Paul McMullen. Paul was out of shape for his standards I believe in spring 2001 and ran a 3:48 for 1500m. Under the guidance of the great former Michigan coach Ron Warhurst, 6 weeks later he ran 3:33 for 1500m. Centro is a lot like Paul, as give him a few weeks and he can improve drastically. Centro KNOWS how to peak. The time to run fast is not late January and a seasoned vet like Centro knows that. Let's see what he does June until August before we judge...
That guy is super fit right now and probably favorite for the mile.
Centro 14th in 3:59. Ouch! Can we finally get an official "He's done" thread?
He ran 4:04 at the Hawaii mile so that’s an improvement. I remember an interview from him last year at nationals how he went from 1:56 800m to 1:48 by the end of the season in 2023. He’s another year past his injury so let’s see what happens

If you’re thinking Centro can make the team, he doesn’t have a chance. He would need to be in near PR shape to do so, and that’s not going to happen at age 35.
I know this was almost three years ago, but you guys remember when Centro had a hard time breaking 3:40 and then ran 3:35 at the trials to make the team and beat everyone but Cole Hocker? I’m not saying he’s going to be a lock to make the team, but I wouldn’t put it past him to get in the top 6 as someone else mentioned.
