That men's mile was really impressive, i'd say the best mile this year so far considering the only two barely faster performances were on the BU track.
just a week ago (my browser history says Jan 19th) I was curious about who the first woman to break 5 minutes in the mile was so I searched it and read the wikipedia page for Diane Leather. turns out her granddaughter Ellie Leather was in the women's race at Dr Sander, and she just ran a huge PR of 4:30.06 for 5th place.
unfortunately i think she was born 50 years too early to break the next minute barrier, but pretty cool story and hoping she has a successful pro career.

You didn't see the race, did you? I believe that Fogg ran the last 800 in 1:53 - they were only at about 2 minutes at 800. It was impressive! I will be very interested to see what Fogg does this year. He is a long shot but one worth watching. Great race!

I actually like these guys. Theyre not super annoying on social media (even fogg) and obviously are second / third tier milers so i respect the grind.
But they should be able to run these times and im not surprised. They're around peak age for the 15/mile (even fogg is coming up on it) and have been very good athletes since college.
I feel like a pro team should be faster than college teams. UW had a 3:51, and two 3:53s, plus
plus a 3:54. UW's top miler beat UA's top miler. UW's 2 and 3 beat UA's 2.
Still a long way to go for UA.
This is why people aren’t hyping up the UA milers. At face value, they see multiple college guys running 3:53 or faster and think “so what” for pros running the same times. As others in this thread have mentioned, the context of closing in 1:53 is impressive. The UA boys have popped-off some fast times in the last year or two, but have seemed to struggle with consistency. It will be interesting to see what Fogg runs at Millrose.

And on the women’s side they had someone run 15:15 to finish 30+S behind the winner on arguably the fastest track in the world.
B grade group at best.
Dude they've been around, what, two years? They will never be a.Bowerman or OAC, but maybe that's a good thing. Other well known teams are only a few injuries away from tier 2 anyway.
