Wait a minute...I thought that Smith failed Nico Young. You're saying that he has also failed Sahlman??? Damn, Imagine what these guys would do if they were with someone that knew what the fvck they were doing!
This proves that Nico's correct altitude conversion was actually 3:47.
OK, more seriously, cool to see such a run from C.Sahlman, holds off the field including good pros like Engels, and outkicking arguably better pro in CPT. OK, those guys not prime, but still pretty good for young-ish college kid.
The early results are pretty darn promising for NAU and the validity of the NCAA's altitude conversions, even for athletes living at altitude. Sahlman dropped 10.04 seconds from NAU last week, winning, and closed in 28/27 (55.80). Kang Nyoak ran 3:57.31 in the 2nd heat, dropping 9.57 seconds from 4:06.88 last week. He had a really strong end to his xc season, probably should have been chosen for nationals, and he has improved immensely on the track so far. Maybe Nico is ready to run 3:48-9.
Incidentally, the Exeter high school, Byron Grievious, ran 4:08.10.

The conversions don’t matter. Colin just ran 3:53, it’s fast, and no conversion is required.
