This. Because that would be some real Sleazy Sal ish.
cant confirm if OAC refused to let them in the same heat, but there are 2 fast heats, OAC athletes in 1, MSE athletes in the other, both paced for 7:50-7:52. I thought it was just because they couldn't fit everyone into one heat, and they had enough top tier talent to split it.
Unclear if it was requested or the meet just did it anyway. Do you think anyone likes the prospect of Woody dogging your heels for 22 laps, falling back a little, and then unleash a 26-second lap to beat you? Probably not, for guys just trying to hit the standard at the front like Klecker.

lame
Ridiculous to exclude the current record holder and the current US champion from this heat

I like the prospect of the best being in the same heat. If Klecker is against racing him that is lame.

It was requested and paid for. 100% true
Ritz said to Citus Mag in the last couple days that they were probably gonna be split. OAC has been clear that they're just going for the standard, and 7:50 is 3s slower than they went through last year (and Woody closed like crazy). Yared is seeded for 12:58, it'll be tragic if he and Woody both run crazy fast, but don't get to kick against each other.

So if you don't like the prospect of getting beat you can just request another heat to avoid racing him? Lame.

I won't disagree that it is less fun for fans that it's now more of an intra-squad scrimmage here than race. But I get it from the OAC perspective. They're more focused on Millrose, the TEN and World Indoors. This meet is for hitting the qualifying standards.
This seems like this is something the Coffee Club boys are critical about other teams doing, is Ollie going to call out the boys on this week's episode for being afraid of racing with non-teammates. Is Ritz the new Jerry?
Normally this would seem wimpy, but I have to say that I also wouldn’t want Woody clipping my heels the whole way. Of anyone has a reason to avoid that, it’s klecker.
This is definitely lame. Why not have a true fast heat and then a slower heat? Seeing Nur and Woody against the OAC guys was where most of the excitement came from at least from my perspective.
Who from OAC will be focused on The Ten besides Klecker?

only one of the parties prefers this arrangement. klecker gets a go at the AR without having to worry about woody sitting and kicking on him (and clipping him a million times enroute)
ON/OAC can dictate pace and co-ordinate how the work will be shared. it makes sense if your OAC, but #notgoodforthesport

“I wouldn’t want to have to race someone who constantly outkicks me” would be a cowardly mindset.

Morgan and Jonas I’d think.
