Today I have one of those embarrassing company strategy days.
The type where you all have to get in groups, do giant boardgames, talk about the future vision on the company etc. Lots of talk of things "going live", being "actioned", and "going forward". Emails being "cascaded" Normal corporate stuff.
However, all of the senior management are in attendance and I'm desperate to make a solid impression and stand out from the Netflix wheezers/normies.
All the senior management team are going through that fifty-something gym/cycling/jogging fanaticism. Many go gym at 6 before work etc.
Dress code is casual; so everyone will be jeans/jumpers etc. By wearing Alphas and split shorts I will immediately impart a serious intent. I added an Aeroswift vest, but it was too much, and went London marathon T-shirt.
Yes, management may laugh, but it's me they'll talk to, right? and I can stun them with my PBs, (none are decent runners, just joggers/cyclists). When they leave, it's me they'll remember, the focused athletic guy, who'll have the edge over the Netflix dad-bods come interview day.
The downside is alot of unwanted stares from coworkers.
I'm on my commute in and I'm losing confidence now. There's plenty of management on here, tell me I have done the right thing. Need to progress.
