Anyone know? Pretty sure Cheruiyot still has a high opinion of Ingebrigtsen like he's always had, but it's hard to say how it is the other way around.
Man, I miss when the two of them were pretty much equals. Hopefully Nuguse can fulfill that role now. Say what you will about COVID era running but the sport created some great rivalries during that time (Cheptegei vs Kiplimo, Gidey vs Hassan, etc...).
You must be referring to the “Team Ingebrigtsen» TV series, where Tim calls the Ingebrigtsen brothers his friends…
I think Timothy Cheruiyot is on his way back towards the top -hard to be friends and fierce rivals on the same time (Jakob and Tim). -Seemingly young Ingebrigtsen and Stuart McSweyn are friends on the track (but the day Stuart beats Jakob for the first time I think the friendship will be “ruined” and transformed to mutual sympathy and respect).
I don’t know Jakob’s take on Tim, but in my opinion Cheruiyot is the one who clearly has had WR capacity (1500m), and may get it again. Nevertheless -Timothy Cheruiyot’s tough and proud front running way of racing (by that also pacing others to good times) through the years should have earned him respect and friendly feelings long ago…
I think Tim’s peak has come and gone. It’s not to say he can’t be a medal contender for Paris, but I think the trajectory of his competitors and their youth would be a tough hill for him to climb and keep up with. He has been a great name for the event the past 5-7 years though.
I won’t speculate on their relationship on/off the track, but I think the bracelet Tim gave Jakob after the 1500 final in Tokyo was at the very minimum a symbolic gesture of respect. I think both of them could appreciate and understand that, even if they don’t talk much.

There was a time when Cheruiyot definitely followed Jakob on instagram but not anymore. So at some point he chose to remove him. I don't think Jakob ever followed him though. Of course you can't read into that too much but I find it intriguing.
The only 1500m guys Jakob follows are Nick Willis, Matt Centrowitz and four Australians. He likes the Aussies it seems!

Katir was following all the top guys until he realised none of them were going to follow him back.
Yeah I noticed that too. At first I thought "Does that speak volumes of what other pros think of Katir's legitimacy?". Possibly. But it could just be because he doesn't speak English.
