it is D2 and it is running. It is only an issue in D1 for basketball and football.

Two things. One, you are correct. He's supposed to wait until this summer.

Two, if you're not interested, just ignore it.

I would say no. From what I see contact can start June 15th before your junior year.

If you are one of the top recruits in your class, you aren't going D2. Just write back and say,"Thanks for your interest. I guess you don't realize I'm only a sophomore so I'm not supposed to contact you until Jun 15."

It's insane to me they allow any recruiting at all until Junior year at the earliest.

it would be obnoxiously arrogant to say anything like that to a college coach. you do realize people talk and it's not just a pure time exercise? maybe he's standing next to a coach you would like to play for and the subject of you comes up and he tells the other dude you're a jerk. karma tends to revisit you when you are gratuitously bad.

also, i know some folks who got hurt or fell on rough form. it sounds cute to tell off a coach because you expect to be a big deal in a couple years, but it's not two years down the road yet. i wouldn't be cutting off any buzz from any quarters at this point, and one can always use a champion.

i wouldn't answer the message until the contact period starts, even to be a jerk or pedant. no contact is no contact.

Arch Manning was offered a full scholarship to Alabama when he was in 8th grade.

My son is only 7 but has already moved through 6 June 15th before his Junior year. Every June 15th you encounter until the summer between your Junior and Senior year firmts this definition.

It does not specify the first June 15th after you have started the 10th grade. It is t precise enough and, therefore, this coach is following the correct interpretation of the rule

my son gets emails all the time (to my email) and he's a sophomore. It's not that big of a deal. I wouldn't go and report him either.

"Off-campus recruiting contacts shall not be made with an individual (or the individual's family members) before August 1 at the beginning of the individual's junior year in high school. U.S. service academy exceptions to this provision are set forth in Bylaw 13.16.1.."

"Telephone calls to an individual (or the individual's family members) may not be made before June 15 at the conclusion of the individual's sophomore year in high school (subject to the exceptions below)."
