I want to like Kerr but he’s not doing himself any favors with these interviews. There is no actual rivalry between him and Jakob. Josh won a single time after getting dog walked in every other meeting up to that point and has made it his entire personality. He can’t seem to shut up about Jakob or his flaws as an athlete and a person.

Not going to summarize the entire article (there are some good parts, the stuff about running on Christmas reads like parody and has to be tongue-in-cheek) but want to emphasize Kerr’s comments about Glasgow.

“There are lots of factors involved and that’s why we’re taking so long. The two-mile record is the focus right now. But I am not scared to race anyone. It’s just that my body is not always great on tight bends. However, not having to run three races at trials makes a big difference and I’m trying to convince my coaching team.”

All Josh had to do was make a definitive statement re World Indoors one way or the other. Instead, his team has waffled on this for months to the point that he can longer win from an optics standpoint even if he shows up. This would be a non-issue except that he so obviously dodged Jakob in Eugene and has been talking trash about him ever since.

Because this site is full of Brits ... every runner of their country is raised to the rank of God. Perfect, no doping, educated, polite ... etc.

Everything else is evil, doper, cheater ...

And they are not alone, they have Australian and New Zélandais to add to their league.

Bro is still yapping about Jakob... And why is this interviewer calling it a "great rivalry"? Jakob is 12-2 against Kerr in 1500 with one of losses being a heat. Jakob's only rival so far is Timothy Cheruiyot.

I'm glad that Josh Kerr exists. He's definitely making the 1500m more interesting by being this outspoken.

But god I've never wanted Jakob to win a race so much before. If Kerr wins at the Olympics, we never hear the end of it. If Jakob wins, there'd barely be a headline before we're already discussing what he'll achieve next. I'd prefer anyone else winning over Kerr.

I see no problem with it being called a rivalry between them. Kerr is operating at a higher level now than compared to 2 years ago, the future head-to-head won’t be as one sided

Good post. It’s worth repeating that Kerr completely ducked Jakob at the DL final. He won the big one for the year but given their head-to-head record and the DL final cop out, Kerr really shouldn’t be talking. With Jakob injured, we could see neither one of them winning gold in Paris. How great would it be if, after Kerr skips world indoors, he doesn’t even end up medaling.

I dunno. i always found Kerr to be a bit of a ball ache on his pod.

Now that he is world champ, his achievements have caught up with his line of chatter.

Jacob is arrogent no doubt but seems popular with his peers and has the achievements that allows it.

In Budapest it was Jacob vs the field. he was unbeatable. But Kerr beat him. that's a rivalry. the 12-2 dosn't matter one bit. Ducking the DL final doesn't matter one bit.

If Kerr does it in Paris all the stuff about Jacob not being able to win non paced races proves to be true and Kerr is a mastermind getting into Jacobs head.

If Jacob does it all the begrudgers can f**k off because he was sick in Budapest.

all that totally dismisses the prospects of Whiteman, Naguse, Hoare and the rest, which is actually a more likely prospect in my mind given that Jacob is injured and Kerr is not dominant enough to double (I think). Either way hook it too my veins.

I think the nickname the poster gave him the other day of Josh Duck Duck Kerr is starting to work.

If there hadn't already been a thread on this article which I just found out about and if Wejo hadn't already changed the thread title, I was going to start one under an anonymous name with the following title: "Josh Duck Duck Kerr: I am not scared to race anyone."

To be honest, I LOVE Josh's talk and his comments and think they are great for the sport. I also think the fans needling him for skipping the DL finale and maybe world indoors are also great for the sport.

I hate athletes that trash talk. Just be quiet and let your performance speak for you.

No matter what opinions we have, I love this for the sport.

That's not entirely true - Jake Wightman did a podcast in the UK sometime middle of last year and he was asked about what it was like to beat Jakob and what his relationship was like, I'm paraphrasing but he said it was an amazing experience and they've had a couple cordial chats but nothing too extensive, but at least he has a better relationship than Jakob & Josh - according to Wightman, those two have always had friction between them at events (regardless of results) , probably down to personality types, so it was extra sore when Kerr beat Jakob, but also just added to the icey relationship between the two who will rarely ever speak to eachother at events now

Josh Kerr skilled runner but that is not normally, This very very insane....They need to check him shoe and spike.....Maybe he not cheating but maybe he using the game deficit ...and this cant seem on game screen..He needs to check-up....,ON BIG Events.Maybe everyone dont knows him trick.He incredible....I want to ask his where is the comming of your skill's ?

You can't call it a rivalry and then dismiss almost everything that has happened during the said rivalry... because then you're just talking about one race.
And please for the love of god learn how to spell Jakob's name.
