Keira D'Amato just did a 15 mile tempo, starting from 5:20s getting down to 5:05 !! She split 70:06 for the half split. See below on Strava. Does this make her the trials favorite? Any idea how the other contender's training has been going? Discuss
I saw this and thought the same thing- she seems to be in great shape. But if you look at her weekly mileage she really cut back her training a month or two ago. Wonder if she had a niggle of sorts? But 70-80mpw seems a little low compared to some of the others who we know are running 120-130+
This may or may not be public info but there are serious doubts of whether or not Molly Seidel will run the trials. She has been complaining about a knee injury all build and has not run in 2 weeks (see her strava for proof)
Keira has long been a low mileage runner due to her older age. When she set the AR of 2:19 at Houston her weekly mileage was around 70-80. But you are right that it does seem that she took some time off due to a niggle a month or two ago. Happy to see she's in better shape now and crushing workouts!
Sisson and Saina are by far the favorites. The third spot will come down to Sara Hall, D’Amato, Fiona O’Keefe, Tuliamuk, Kellyn Taylor, and Lindsay Flanagan. Running a 15 mile tempo at 5:20s is not that impressive, it simply means she’ll be in the pack
A high quality 70-80/week is vastly superior to a cruddy, banged up 120-130. Look, If she ran 1:09 for her closing 13.1 in a workout she’s actually in pretty good shape.

Is there any indication that she just, you know, didn't set her workouts to private?
I would say that Fiona O’Keefe has a better shot than Natosha Roger’s. O’Keefe has a 67 min half marathon, and Roger’s doesn’t have the fast half times yet. I don’t think O’Keefe has much of a shot either: you have to consider the experience of runners like Aliphine, Keira, Emily, Betsy, Molly, Lindsay, and more
