Breaking 3:42 in the mile is not merely a conquest of seconds but a transcendence into a realm where each stride becomes a testament to the relentless pursuit of human potential, challenging the boundaries of speed and resilience on the hallowed track of achievement.
What the OP meant was: Yason Nuguse, son of retired American distance runner Yared Nuguse, will be the first American to break 3:42 in the mile. At that time, in 2054, the world record will be 3:39.46 set by the son of Colt Goucher and Addy Ritzenhein who defected to Jamaica for his distance running career
He cannot do it. But I do think he will one day break 13 minutes.
I think he could run 12:45 and as soon as this year. He’s definitely on the strength side of 1500m.
Is he really on the strength side? Genuine question. I'm not American so I'm only aware of his performances last year. His 7:28 3000m definitely shows great strength.
12:45 would put him right at Mo Katir and Grant Fisher's level. Which is medal contender/American record territory. Honestly, nothing would surprise me with Yared. I really can't predict where his trajectory is taking him. Apart from dental school.

Scenario: Jakob says to Yared: “Stick with me and I will get you sub 3.42” but in the last bend Jakob steps on the rail and takes a dive… -Yared finishes sub 3.42 one hundreds of a second faster than Jakob who has crawled up again -(WR)…!

He seems to match up with Jakob at 800/1500m so I don’t know why it wouldn’t continue at longer distances. He’s not a 1:43 guy.
