My guess is that they’re still adjusting to the mileage & intensity of workouts at the college level compared to what they did in high school. I mean 4:06/4:07 isn’t a head turning time, but it’s also not the worst of all time. Not every all time high school runner is gonna be running all time NCAA times. I mean give it a month or 2 and we’ll see how they progress from here. Not every mega talent high school runners easily translates to the NCAA
Lex and Leo also entered in the 1000. they probably don't burn out. also a 4:06/4:07 in your first NCAA indoor mile is nothing to be concerned about.
I agree. All four Stanford athletes are entered in the M 1000 and maybe they're treating this meet as as a fun workout day, each runner looking to hit paces corresponding to the training block he's in at the moment.
didn't colin not start running well until outdoors last year? I'm not too concerned about a season opener where they're doubling (tripling? I think I saw them on the 3k start lists the other day). 4:00 training through it is really good for Robinson, if that's what he's doing.
the entire Stanford team finished together in the 1000. looks like it was just a big practice day. typical 1st meet of the season stuff. just getting their legs going.

UW needs to crack down on these types of shenanigans. This is a competition not a fun run. There are plenty of competitive athletes that can't get accepted to this meet yet you have multiple athletes not giving an honest effort in multiple events.

Did you want them to run in 9-degrees outdoors? Great practice lacing up and running indoors.

Define “honest effort” then. If someone can run 4:00 as a workout, should he be displaced for a 4:20 runner?

Track FANS need to stop overestimating their role as FANS. Look, you had your day and it's done. It's done. Let the sport do what it will.

For someone as talented as the twins, those are not good times and coupled with their XC season, something isn’t right. They had seemed as talented as Nico, but as a freshman, he finished 4th at NCAA XC, and then ran a 13:24 the next spring.
Their talent didn’t go anywhere, so hopefully they can turn it around in the near future.

Then it does sound like a coaching problem.
People react differently to college, but the right coach gets the right results.

They let Portland state have like 50 entries. If they can get in, anyone can get in.
