OK so 1:17:49, which is a nice result, but he could have done this in HS. A good start for him.

What is the 800 equivalent? 1:47ish? It’s his best result in awhile. Hopefully he’ll silence the critics, including myself, and pop a sub-1:46 outdoors.

Based on his oddly combative instagram posts id have expected a sub 1:16. Oh well

Yeah with context of this being an indoor opener its definitely not a terrible showing. There were no indoor qualifiers at 800 run this early last year and only 2 run in january period. I don't know if he'll sharpen up to the point of running the likely sub 1:47 it will take to qualify for nationals but i wouldn't write him off based on a mid-january 600m.

1:17.5 on flat track is pretty decent for mid January. with the little improvement in his speed you have to assume his strength side has gotten a lot better and will show in the 8. I expect 1:45 or lower by outdoor championships

Yes. Good opener with solid racing by the looks of the splits....was fastest through both splits separating the whole way. Great opening of the season and significant improvement on his freshman campaign.
