I finish my run. I go to Walmart to get some grub. There’s a beautiful display of Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Yummy. But no prices. I know they’re pricey, so I snag a dinky box of six. I’m thinking it’s maybe five, six bucks, tops. Afterall, it’s Walmart. I go to the checkout. It’s $12.88. I nearly soiled my pants. Welcome to the new reality.

I feel the price gouging and massive corporate profits. Inflation is under control.

Yes. After Krispy Kremes, I definitely feel fatter.

So the restaurant owners whose rent went up and who pay more for all food items are price gouging when raising their prices?

This and I will include that people misunderstand what raised wages amounts to in fast food. Certainly, I agree with paying fast food workers a wage where they can be okay.
However, if you have a Taco Bell franchisee with only one restaurant, despite all of the business they generate, it's understood that your profit range for a year will be only $120k-$150k... again, for the whole year.
So these businesses themselves are not gouging. One can say that Yum Brands is gouging but they are operated by PepsiCo.
If PepsiCo took less of a profit, prices could drop, but no Board of Directors of PepsiCo would keep a CEO who lowered profits for the parent company.
Yes I feel the inflation. I've stopped going out for lunch completely in favor of packing my lunch - I can afford the expense but 20+ for a lunch after tax and tip just doesn't sit right with me. I'm also very picky choosy now with going out for dinner. Same deal - lousy meal and lousy service so I can pay 100 bucks for a night out with the wife? Meh.
Bidenflation has cost every American about 20% since he took office. So that $5 million you had before he took office is now effectively worth $4 million. Thanks Joe. Bidenomics at it’s finest.
The day after the Presidential election, gas at my local station was $1.79. For most of the past three years, it has been around $3.19. That's a 78% increase for most of the past three years.
Over the last several weeks, gas prices have dropped to $2.79... that's still a 56% increase.
