Well done for having Grant on the show for over an hour!!
Well done for having Grant on the show for over an hour!!
Where can I view/listen to this interview?
I don't want to see/hear an interview, I want these stars to make "ask me anything" threads here. They never do!
Although I don't really care about Fisher and would have nothing to ask

Can you summarize the highlights for the rest of us?
Two big hits for the LRC crew. First the Frerichs Q/A and now Fisher on the podcast for an hour. Citius shaking their fist they didn't get these first
So do I understand this correctly; Letsrun interviews athlete and then charges people to hear the interview?
Maybe it will be available for free later on.
If you’ve ever listened to rojo, you’d understand the amount of planning and work involved to do one of these interviews. As he deserves to be compensated.
Actually Fast Women had a Frerichs Q&A first
…who cares about any of these btc cheaters … boring and pointless.
"I don't think it's the end of an era, it's just a different era" what did he mean by this?
he did lactate testing in high school and hadn't used it since until he left bowerman. weird.
Full LetsRun podcast episode including Grant Fisher interview available now here or wherever you get your podcasts.
Thank you, thank you!!
Great questions! Really appreciate these interviews. Especially like video or audio interviews like this.
Grant briefly elaborated, stating he believes the BTC pro team is now in its 3rd era, dating back to when Jerry left Wisconsin to join Alberto/OTC back in autumn 2008 . . .
Era #1: lead/dominated by the original WI group of Jager/Solinsky/Teg/Bairu/Nelson . . . Grant mentioned that none of these guys left to join other teams . . . rather, they ran with BTC until they couldn't race at a world-class level anymore . . . or retired.
Era #2: Grant called it the "Social Media" era highlighted by huge team growth, both men and women, where they were being called/calling themselves "Bowerman Babes" and "Bowerman Bros" . . . which Grant stepped into when he joined in 2019 . . . although Grant didn't mention any names but as many here have mentioned, at the forefront of all this attention/attention getting was Colleen Quigley . . . who was no where near the best runner but was the premier social media influencer & marketeer . . . and all that implies re: team unity.
Era #3: the "post-Eugene move" era . . . which has seen many of the established runners not retire but rather move on to other training groups . . . something Grant never envisioned himself doing when he joined but which is a now viable option that did not exist up until 2-3 years ago . . . and will likely be remembered and mostly identified by the new post-move runners such as Aragon/Knight/Hicks/Hamilton as well as new recruits joining in the months and years to come.
Coda: Grant did state he believes the BTC pro team will exist 5 years from now in some way/shape/form . . .
He’s a Swifty!!!!!!!
Entering his speak now era.
Grant's mention of running a 5k in Boston a few days following Millrose next month got me looking at upcoming schedules.
He mentioned the race is on Feb 16th . . . which would be the BU Terrier DMR Challenge.
Here is the current schedule for that meet:
Note: focus of this meet is for college DMR teams to obtain Q marks for their respective national meets . . . with 200s/400s/800s/miles included . . . but no 5ks.
So, a hot men's 5k race must be in the works . . . stay tuned on this one . . .
Speaking with Moh Ahmed back in 2018 in a general conversation about the Ingebrigtsen model, he wished that Jerry did do lactate testing, but that Jerry was "old school". Given the number of injuries in the group over the years (Moh less than most) it boggles the mind that this wasn't introduced to the entire group years ago. American coaches have, in general, been late to the party incorporating this technology into the training process.
