wasn't this the same school that had two kids run thru dorm windows and fall to their deaths 3 floors down?
when i opend this thread I thought this would be the same article.

So who fell through the roof? Laura Cummings and the Kaltenbach sisters? Why would Felnagle be so stupid as to go back to the party after it was busted?
You guys act like this is a really big deal or something... It's not like UNC is the only school to have a team that drinks. Just look at the halloween pictures, Colorado runners are in the pics with drinks in hand. So what? It's college, and that's part of college life.
wow this is quite funny...this weekend one of my teammates told a cop to f off and that he couldnt catch him bc he is a sub 15 5k runner...so he starts running from the cop...next thing u know there are two cars and 2 security carts chasing after him...the funny thing was...my teammate looked like he was jogging...he had talked all this shit but then he wasnt even running away very fast(he is coming off injury and was slightly under the influence) anyway the cop caught him and goes
"that 5k time aint so impressive now is it son?"
lol, next morning he ran back from jail...8 miles or so. funny stuff
I looked at Brie's facebook today, and judging by the comments many of her friends have left her it is obvious that it isn't a big deal to her at all. So I guess she didn't really get into any trouble over it, at least it doesn't sound like it.
Hey dickbag, only one of those kids died and neither was under the influence. Get your shit straight before mucking up a late student's good name
not cool to joke about wrote:

how is the fact that he wasn't under the influence at the time he ran through a window on the 3rd story of a dorm and fell to his death supposed to make him look better?
School officials said that Felnagle, a current member of the cross county team, would undergo counseling, which is standard practice when an underage student has an alcohol violation. School officials also said she would be cut from a team competition this weekend.
Resisting arrest isn't a big deal anymore???????
I guess not? Hell, next time I'm at a party (even though I don't drink) I'll just resist arrest for the hell of it.
Brie was outside of the party answering a phone call, when a ALE officer undercover in street clothes (6'4" 240lbs) told her to stop so he could talk to her, of course little brie ran into the house, the cops followed her in and broke up the party that way, it was 12 oclock and wasnt even a crazy party, one kid slipped while hiding and fell through the ceiling taking down 2 more kids.
Who even cares! She was at a party, drinking a little, who the f*** cares! We're in college, we're supposed to be having fun, that's all it seems like she was doing to me.
Ha, if I was a girl and some 6'4" man approached me at midnight I'd take off running too! Why do people enjoy bashing fellow runners and shit?

having a few beers now and again will not hamper your running you dork. just b/c you are slow and a geek does not mean you can make up stuff. poll the top elite runners and see if they bend an elbow now and again. as for teh unc kids, if the party was like 99.99% of parties around the US at campuses that night and simply ended without cops no one would care, these athletes would go home with two or three beers running through their viens and they would get up and do their long run. who cares? so some cops busted a party and a 19 or 20 yr old was having a beer. why don't the cops spend more time in downtown CH busting the degenerate crack heads. lame.
Thank you! The first person who has acually written something with some validity. Its funny to watch people fight about the morality of what happened based on rumors and lies. I happen to know that most of the information even the police report was half false. For example: there wasn't more than 60 people at the party, someone DID get injured falling out of the cieling, and only a few people fled the scene. I suggest the rest of you accusters and entertainers to continue making up stories and causes for what really happened because i know the UNC runners are just soaking this in and laughing at all of you.
I'll translate what this post is really saying by "dorks."
"I was a good runner in high school, state champ and dropped some really good times. I went to UNC because if the basketball team is good then every other team must be good right? Well, after sucking it up on the xc course and track for two years I quit running and now drink my face off on Franklin St. every weekend. So what if 10:00 two milers in high school are at App State kicking Carolina's ass. I'm still as great as I thought I was in high school and would be at UNC. Go HEELS."
I'm sorry I have to agree with dorks.
I presume you are some high school athlete who cannot imagine top level athletes relaxing at all, and think the concept of them drinking a beer is outrageous.
By the way is the Gibby kid, W&M Coach Gibby's brother.
you yanks need to pull your heads out and relax. i can't believe you're even having this discussion.
Sure, we all know college kids drink. Hell, when I ran it was our thing that the distance runners could outdrink the throwers at the Cuse. However, think about the time of year it is - a week and a half before nationals. The only event she is a lock in is the DMR. If she was supposed to be running a last chance meet this weekend (the school release says she is suspended from the meet this weekend) she needed to be getting her rest and preparing for the meet. Shows where her priorities are. While I agree it is no big deal she is having a beer (plus, very few kids just have ONE beer at a college party), but her timing sucks as she could have waited a few weeks and then it wouldn't have been as big a deal as it is.
But why would she really have ran a last chance meet? Her times are more than good enough to qualify her in the mile and the 8, so I highly doubt she would be racing a last chance meet a week before nationals when she is pretty much already in. Use your head.
School administrators wanted to dish out some punishment. So the coach, who didn't want any punishment, fooled the administrators by saying he would ban Brie from this coming weekend meet, knowing Brie wouldn't be running anyway.
Underage drinking doesn't bother me too much, but UNC is going to look bad for not penalizing an athlete charged with resisting, delaying and obstructing a police officer.
I wonder if UNC is going to punish that grad student who drove a rental jeep through the busiest part of campus at 12 noon, mowing down 10 students. I wonder if he will get any counseling?
