You can see what he's doing on Strava, even if we assume he is extraordinarily well heat prepared it sure doesn't look anything like Olympic team making training.
Correct me if I’m wrong but Jake Riley doesn’t have the OTQ does he? I don’t see him on the list of qualifiers. 2:18 and change in Berlin in 2023 and 2:30 in Boston in 2022. Does he have an automatic entry from top 3 last trials? Or does his 2:16 at the Olympics qualify him?

The qualification methods of the US is wild. How this dude went to the Olympics is unreal.
He beat every American Marathoner except Rupp on Feb 29, 2020 -that's how. Dude is currently still rebuilding from some massive injuries and just doesn't have enough time before the trials, but he can probably be pretty good for a fall 2024 marathon.
The US Trials are geared toward elite hobbyjoggers, which is both awesome, and tragic.
Kiptum is going to run a legit sub-2 at Rotterdam, 700 Japanese guys run 2:08 or better every year, and we get excited when one of our guys runs near the women's world record time.

This comment is by a coach or agent. Already predicting failure but telling us how much better he will be come fall. Also probably trying to get a deal at Chicago or New York.
