Have you ever randomly developed a crush on someone you haven’t seen in years?

Ok I feel really dumb about this, but it turns out she’s living in the same town as my uncle and aunt. Literally just finagled an invite to go visit them right after the holidays. Not sure exactly how I’m going to play this though. Would obviously require a lot of luck to just hope I randomly run into her, but could be weird to reach out like “hey I noticed you’re living in X and I’m in town for a few days“ just because we weren’t really friends even back then. Guess I have a few days to figure it out!

Turns out she owns a coffee shop and gourmet bakery. I’ll be working remotely, so plan is to just set up shop and work from the coffee shop and hope she shows up. Will then just act surprised to see her like I had no clue the shop is hers or that she was living in the town.

I’m planning to joke with her by offering to buy her a coffee (it will be funny because she owns the shop and thus already owns the coffee). After that I will invite her to sit and catch up.

I never developed a crush on someone that I haven't seen recently. Seems very conceptual. In real life, she's going to be very different from the image you built in your head.

Update: pushed the schedule up and drove out just now so I can shoot my shot tomorrow. Realized I wouldn’t be able to sleep until I did. Will update on how it goes.

This is the worse idea ever. You can do what ever you want but it does not mean you should. Have you ever seen High Fidelity?

I guarantee this girl is not waiting on you. You are living out a dream about a girl who does not have the same dream as you. This is all fantasy.

If you do meet her and she is not weirded out. You need to be honest with her. It will not matter because this is not going to end like you hope.

Met a girl living in the same apt complex, both of us in early 20's, dated a few times and she showed a lot of interest, but I was painfully hesitant and lost out to a more aggressive suitor. Fast forward 4 years, we spotted each other in a language class, but no immediate contact. As I was heading out to my car I spotted her standing in the middle of the parking lot just standing there watching me, waiting. I really wanted to make the move, but couldn't do it for some reason. Last time I saw her. 40 years later I've recently found out she'd passed away. Took a piece of my heart with her forever. Anybody got a time machine I could borrow?

While I agree that this story isn't real, I wanted to post this advice to my younger self:

Always shoot your shot if you're interested in a girl. Always. You'll either get a date or gain mental freedom to move onto the next girl. When Girl A rejects you, it somehow makes Girl B magically appear more interesting.

It's like so many things in life. Eventually you won't regret the failures, you'll regret the missed opportunities.
