The word is constructed by combining geno-, the Greek word for race or tribe, with -cide, from the Latin word for killing. The Nazi Death camps which were engineered to kill the young, weak, sick, disabled, etc. at industrial scale upon arrival via the gas chambers and incinerators certainly fits the bill of genocide. The rest were worked to death through slave labor under brutal and inhumane conditions.
