Lance Armstrong had some of his bikes he used back in his glory Tour de France days stolen on Dec 10th. The 6 bikes stolen are claimed to be worth over $100,000. I wonder if it was The Omerta that sent the thieves to steal the bikes for Armstrong opening his mouth again about how easy it is to dope and not get caught recently.

How do they know it was thieves? A bike could be stolen by anyone, even maybe raccoons

How much do pro road bikes cost? Hard to believe that they'd be worth $100k 15 years after they were last used...or is the value because Armstrong used them?

Nowadays? The cheapest on world tour teams are around 11.000€. The most expensive (time trial models) 18.000€ - Colnago and Pinarello.
All pro-bikes have a name of the rider on the frame, thus they are collectibles. I can imagine that his 6 bikes were worth at least that much, despite being 20 years oudated. Even though he is disgraced rider, there are thousands of rich fans that would pay 20+K for one of his bikes on which he won TdF. Hell, even I would, and I dislike him as a human being. But he was a hell of a rider. Every one of his rivals doped (and the current crop does as well).
Guessing it was an inside job. Surely he's got a decent security system in place, among other things.
