.@MayorWu, the Mayor of Boston invited only “electeds of color” to a Holiday Party. The email was mistakenly sent to all city councilmembers, including the white ones. One white councilmember called it “divisive.”
It's really refreshing that at least in Boston an Asian American is considered to be a person of color. I thought Asian Americans were being discriminated against like the whites and Jews but I guess not any more. They now are a minority group worthy of being propped up.

Question for Dems - how do you know/decide who is white or colored? I am 1/4 Hispanic and 4% Jewish but I look white. At some point, whites need to start advocating for themselves just like any other race. Not saying they need to claim victim or minority status, but they shouldn't put up with being discriminated against in a way no other color would accept.

Nobody claimed it was a constitutional violation. It’s not a constitutional violation to walk up to someone and call them an a**hole to their face, but that doesn’t mean you can’t stick up for yourself.

It is a constitutional violation, though. It's a government sanctioned party therefore it violates the 14th amendment of the federal constitution as well as federal and state laws and probably the constitution of Massachusetts.

The unspoken truth is that we know it will be a better party without the whites there. They are uptight and never know how to have fun. What are they going to do, listen to Simon and Garfunkel and play charades? Good lord.

Your first point is a good one. With so many people in America of mixed races and ethnicities, it gets really muddled trying to fit everyone into a particular classification, but we still shoehorn everyone in one when filling out applications forms .
But I completely disagree that we should play the the identity politics game like the Dem's do. I really don't like the prison yard mentality that I see in discussions about society. Instead of dividing ourselves further by race, I'd much rather see us de-emphasize race.
Now that we have the laws that actually guarantee equal protection and rights for all, we should go back to thinking of ourselves as a united nation and emphasize what's good about our nation and all the people in it together.
