I think 90% of us largely agree. Not sure what you cleared up? But, it's worth repeating that's for sure.

There actually is not a huge overlap. When swimmers do run they bring the cardiovascular fitness, it's the actual running that's hard for them as their gait is not smooth. It's even harder for the runner, who is a poor swimmer, to move into serious swimming, as proper stroke and breathing are hard to develop from scratch.
Although the overlap is small, plenty of swimmer/runners are well known. Gwen J and Renee Tomlin were both all state in hs in both running and swimming. Alan Webb was a swimmer and of course Luka Verzbikas. No surprise they all ended up at some point in triathlon.

She also said she was running 65 mpw under solinsky until she broke her foot, and then she/solinsky said she was cross training 2 hours a day.
I personally think she is running more than 30 mpw some weeks now based on her answers during some interviews. but nonetheless her cross training includes a lot of doubling. Easy days are supposedly 70 min arc / 40 min swim, that kind of thing.
Others have posted on here she was high mileage in highschool but idk how true that is...
Regardless of "gait", swimming training is for swimming and running training is for running. If there was any significant overlap it wouldn't matter for a runner or a swimmer what kind of training they did. Swimming may be but distance running isn't a technical sport. It would also mean hundreds of coaches out there would be out of a job because no runner and no event would require expert specialised training.

Actually lacrosse was her number 1 sport not swimming. Her goal as a middle schooler was to play lacrosse in college.

Miss Valby is a prime example. Gave up lacrosse and promptly won the Florida high school 3200 championship in her junior year. Some track background along with her swimming base but, nothing to write home about until she focused.
At my school, I have had many women lacrosse players use XC as conditioning for lacrosse. Several have earned varsity spots and qualified for state over the years. The girls play a different style of game - less physical, more finessed, with more emphasis on fitness, speed, and wide-open play. Many come from established club programs while most of the guys take up the game late after washing out of football, usually for size or speed deficiencies - my observation.

Alli McLaughlin played lacrosse all four years in high school. Didn't start running until her junior year and was an overnight sensation. Won CO state 3200 her only track season in HS, then state XC, then 5th at Footlocker, then 5th at NCAA XC as a frosh.

Is it possible to see those results without a milesplit account? I’m curious if she started the freshman year in Conn., then transferred to FL by the track season? Someone earlier pointed to NXN results from Conn., which I think were here freshman year.
I haven’t looked at this in detail to see whether it’s possible she was held back a year…maybe her freshman year? Maybe the milesplit results would clarify that.

People doubting her arc trainer training should try it at the highest setting. It's not a joke. If you see her running form, it kind mimics what arc trainer does. She drives her forward motion a lot from her arm swings. Then you look at the runners behind her.
I think after watching videos over the past few years, her running form is a bit of an enigma at times.
I wondered if that last 400m in the BU race was representative of her freely opening up her stride ‘unencumbered’, though with the short track (frequent turns)?
