Pretty much every one in the top 15 is entered in the 5K. Who will be in the elite race? Who wins? and will they break the NCAA indoor record?
Blanks, Bosley, Nico Young, Ky Robinson, Samuel, Maier, Wolfe, Kipngetich, P Kiprop, V Kiprop, Fink, Gilman, Messaoudi. Who else will be included in the elite race?
Crazy how this meet has gone from one where a few runners go to, to basically being anyone that feels they have a shot at qualifying for indoor nationals. Would love to see them go for broke and hit 3k in like 7:50-low to see if anyone can hit the collegiate record or even close to sub-13

13:11 is the NCAA indoor record. I think this goes down Saturday
I think the overall collegiate indoor record is 13:08.28 by Lawi Lalang in 2012. Wildschutt ran a 13:09 recently, as well. Dylan Jacobs has the collegiate record for American citizens at 13:11.01 from last year.
I think it's quite possible that the overall and American collegiate records both get broken next weekend.
Setting a new collegiate 5k record would be phenomenal . . . but I think there is more going on here.
Going out at 13:10 pace is perfect slight-negative-split pacing for an attempt at the 13:07 Oly Q . . . which must be on Ky Robinson's mind (won last year in 13:11) as well as several others . . .
People are finally racing hard indoors. For a long time the top guys didn't really run much indoors, they might run a couple mile/3k races and maybe just do enough to qualify for the 5k but not really get after it. As recent as 20 years ago you were qualifying for nationals with barely sub 14. Even several years ago guys like Ches would just run enough to qualify with a roughly 13:40 and not work too hard indoors. It's nice to see so many guys getting after it in December. They can still take a few down weeks here after the race before building things back up in January/February.
BU also solidified its reputation as having the best indoor track in the country. Became noticeable when Salazar would send his athletes to run for appearance fees at the Indoor Grand Prix at Reggie Lewis - and then they would stick around to run at the BU meets that were 1 or 2 weeks later to chase after records.
Colin Sahlman is running the 5k? I figured he'd be in the mile.
Ehhh....for all we know his best event could be the 5000. I'm really looking forward to see how he can do in this race just dropping :31s - 32s laps and for how long. He tends to race pretty smart so this should be very interesting.
