I saw this. At least his bio accurately mentions that he has only coached two people, his two kids. They do have another jumps/multis coach so I am assuming Cunningham doesn't have to worry too much about pole vault, long jump, and triple jump.
While he has no real experience, you have to assume he has a good knowledge of the high jump. He retired 20+ years ago with $millions$ so he doesn't have to work. I'm sure he has time to read every high jump book and watch every high jump video on youtube. His daughter's results have been disappointing to some but it may or may not be his coaching. Maybe she just hit her upper limit.
I also noticed that Carmelita Jeter is the head coach.
The UNLV track & field team announced a high-profile addition to its staff just before the 2023-24 indoor season as former Rebel and NFL star and College Football

No real experience? He coached an All American and an Olympian. That's more than most D-1 jump coaches.
He coached two people who won the gene pool. He has zero experience coaching the type of athletes that attend UNLV, which is a lot lower level than Vashti Cunningham.
Since R Cunningham retired from NFL, I always thought he would have been a great college or professional quarterback coach or offensive coordinator for dual threat quarterbacks.

Exactly. The level of high jumpers he will coach at UNLV are on books and partials, at best. He has no clue how to develop these kind of athletes. And judging with how his daughter has never really progressed, almost regressed, he is limited as a coach. She is a non factor at most international meets. Does she become a volunteer assistant in order to gain access to facilities? Joke hire but good luck to him.
Randall Cunningham Sr. participated in track & field in high school, reportedly going 6' 9" in the high jump in 1981. I have seen a couple of videos of him coaching his daughter and he exhibited knowledge of both the physical and psychological nuances of the event. She won the U.S. Championships again this year and has displayed longevity in the event. I think Cunningham will be helpful with recruiting and perhaps be able to convince some of the faster football players to participate in track and field. With the hiring of Carmeleta Jeter, UNLV could potentially become a pretty strong program in the sprints & maybe the jumps as well.

She is unhealthy skinny and shows very little muscular development. Perhaps her not so good performances of the last few years has something to do with lack of physical development?

He would be unstoppable in today’s NFL. Very Mahomes like skill set.

As a player? If were are going to do what if, Randall Cunningham was at his peak, mid to late 1980s. If Randall Cunningham would have had clean & sober Hall of Fame Cris Carter, instead of substance abuser Cris Carter, maybe Eagles would have won a Superbowl or two.

Or if he had a coach who actually cared about the offense. Sorry Buddy Ryan.
