There are multiple institutions named Columbia College in the U.S., none of them being Columbia University (within which, though, Columbia College is one of the undergraduate colleges). Not sure of level or conference for each of those other colleges named Columbia.

Is a terribly written plea for change. Was the coach fired for spending too little on the meal? It kind of reads that way. And referring to the AD by a first name seems goofy.

Lannana was booted from Stanford for the same violation. He even allowed the team to upgrade to the salad.

There has to be more to the story. If that is all he did, most likely his boss would've said something like "next time make sure you get prior approval". I've never heard of anyone getting fired for something like that as a first offense.

Even if he gets reinstated - which I hope he does, I signed the petition without really knowing the details - he obviously needs to start looking for a new job because the boss doesn't like him.
I'm stating the obvious. there's probably more to the story.

Anyone who goes to Olive Garden, ever, should be fired on general principles.

Didn't there used to be like "unlimited breadsticks, salad, & soup" or something like that? It might be better than dorm food.

I once briefly worked at an Olive Garden. I'm not proud of it. They did have a soup that people particularly liked. No kidding, the soup was delivered to the restaurant pre-made in a giant plastic bag. All the restaurant did was warm it up.

Wouldn't personally go there but for a college coach feeding his team at an away meet it checks all the boxes

Anyone that has worked for a struggling athletic department has a story like this (although this is the most absurd).

When I was coached we submitted a request for more meal money for our road trips. It was denied. Then an athletic director traveled with us to the first round of nationals and scolded us for how poor the student athlete experience was…. Couldn’t believe how little money we were spending on the team

If people really liked the soup why is there a problem with how it was delivered?
