Seems like back then, things were better, no tv. No Internet, just living off the land.

No toilet paper? No, thank you.
Dying at 43? No thanks.
Living life as a deaf person because there weren't drugs for my infant ear infections? No thanks.
Likely watching some of my children die before me? No thanks.
Absolutely
is this the new conservative vogue, to pretend like the gilded age was actually nice? you understand that basically caused the conditions that led to the crash, great depression, new deal, minimum wage and maximum hour laws, child labor laws, all borne of the excesses of the time? life expectancy of 40? before antibiotics, most vaccines?
this country is getting dumber and dumber.
Nothing stopping you and now you can wimp out hit up urgent care or food bank if shtt goes off the rails. Bye!
if you fatalistically think life expectancy of 40 means nobody lives much longer, you might as well stay in soft easy times. If you think this times is gonna stay soft and easy, that is.
Usually low life expectancy means high infant mortality. Make it past that and you've got it made, if you can stay clear of the murders, syphilis, tetanus, starvation, accidents. Just be smart.
There were virtually no liberals back then. Like maybe 0.5% of the population.
Naw man, wouldn't have been better. There were a number of anti-Chinese immigrant laws put in place a little more than as well as more recent than 150 years ago. I was born in the US, but that didn't stop discrimination from happening to US citizens of Chinese descent back then.
no liberals? you understand that time period is where american unions basically get rolling, the anarchists (mckinley), violent strikes, etc. that many of the people you are idolizing who went west were fleeing that crud? you then seem to have missed the point of many movies about, say, turn of century montana in recent years. heaven's gate, river runs through it, the sheridan tv empire. there is a reason it was called the wild west. indians, RR company wants your land, bandits, etc.
you're implying you live decades longer than the mean due to child mortality. the median is only roughly a decade longer. so still 50. half the people longer, half shorter.
it would also be a typical conservative oversight to think that someone who lives to 50 in an age of mean 40 median 50 will feel like a modern 40 or 50. they lived harder lives. they will have endured life without modern medicine and probably feel like they are 70 now.
You realize 150 years ago was only 8 years removed from the Civil War. What idiot would want to live back then unless you live in it right now.
examples -- abe lincoln died age 56. arthur died 56. US grant died 63. have you seen the photos? they look old.
Heroin at the corner drug? I'm in!
No. I'm half Eritrean so this is pretty self explanatory
Peak USA was the period between WW2 and Vietnam.
You have been watching way too many movies if you think life for the average person wasn’t brutal back then. If in this fantasy you are some rich famous person, you would still be better off being rich and famous today.
