yup. he has full knowledge from the greatest American coach there ever was. And perhaps better temperament and morals to go with that knowledge.

Yes
I liked his 'bougie down' reference.
It wasn't just on letsrun. Flotrack had anonymous comments under their videos when he was at Oregon and that got way out of hand. I'm pretty sure he was the reason why they took that feature away. You'll still see some cheap shot comments on old youtube videos of him too.

How in heck is this surprising? It was a massive favorite. It reminds me of all the golf fans who were somehow stunned when Nick Faldo turned out to be a great analyst. Meanwhile all you ever had to do was pay attention to some of his comments from his playing career, like, "I thank you from the heart of my bottom."
This just reminded me of the "Tyson Homosexual" filter.
Galen has commentated for NXN a few times and he has done a nice job there as well.
Apparently the only way we are ever going to hear that stream again from Galen or Des is for someone at TATA Media Services to make it available.
They used Vindral to broadcast it live but it doesn't look like that service saves the stream.
Yeah yeah they probably can't make the video available because ABC/Disney owns it
But the audio is an original creation that ABC doesn't own so they could easily extract that and make it available for download, we can play the ESPN stream and mute it and listen to them instead.
I hate how our sport does this "once and done" stuff, like maybe a few hundred people got to listen to it and now lost forever because someone is too lazy or ignorant.
It's not a legal issue, I am sure Galen and Des were paid for their service so the media company owns it.
They just have to be motivated. We're done with WMM for 2023 so this would be a nice thing to have.
(give it to runnerspace if they don't want to host it)

Great insight and affable- maybe a new career after he retires
Galen is a great runner. Maybe now, finally, people will appreciate him.
I would have thought. In fact, I did think. He was extremely dedicated, sincere and polite as a runner and he achieved great things. He has more running knowledge and experience than almost any other American. I am not surprised he was great at this. He's passionate about running. Look forward to hearing from him some more.
Maybe we'll hear commentary from Jared Nuguse someday too.
When I saw that my first thought is that Galen needs to be the US voice of T&F distance commentating going forward. Between Galen and Oto, they can give great insight on pretty every track event.
