The right decision for him imo, big hype right before the Olympics and go all in on the sub-2 attempt with time to recover for Paris
Sorry but It doesn't make sense. Rotterdam Marathon for having time to recover for Paris ?!? Man, Rotterdam Marathon Is on April 14th, London is on 21th April, only One week later. Why not running the more prestigious London. Tokyo Is on 3 March so choosing Tokyo would have meant to have more time to recover for Paris.

As a wise man once said, "Cash rules everything around me, C.R.E.A.M, get the money, dolla dolla bills yalllllllllllllllll"

Recovery seems to be different than in the past- super shoes not only in racing but in training.
Even I, at my advanced age and much slower pace, notice that I recover much faster than in the past.
Maybe this will lead to 3 or even 4 marathons a year for the top runners instead of the usual 2 (maybe eking out a 3rd).
NN marathon is what it is. Is it a fast course? I’d say big appearance fees and Jos Hermens had a lot to do with b it.
That’s honestly the surprising thing. Golazo (Kiptum’s mgmt) is quite friendly with NN but to have them team up to further smash Kipchoge’s mark? Also takes away the chance for NN team members in Nageeye and Abdi to win in most likelihood. That being said I’m sure Hermens/Corstjens hashed this out and it does give Kipchoge/Kamworor a great chance to win either London or Tokyo, and maybe this is Mateikos moment as well (died going out with Kiptum in attempt 1).
The elite field coordinator for Rotterdam is...Marc Corstjens.
Well that makes even more sense. It’s interesting NN sponsors the Running Team and doesn’t have some sort of offshoot with Golazo (a la Bowerman/Union let’s say).

I remember fondly when you said his opting to run the “slow” Chicago Marathon made no sense.
I agree, there is more than enough time between April and early August to recover and train for another Paris Olympic marathon. Rotterdam is just as fast as London if not faster. Tokyo is also quite fast.
