DyeStat's national and regional team rankings will alternate during each week of the season. The individual rankings will drop every other week on the same day as the regional team rankings.
southwest definitely deserves 2 considering herriman and American Fork are locked in best teams in the nation. Such a strong region should allow some other teams to go as well.
Episcopal was not ranked highly so 21st was not necessarily a surprise. Cba was ranked highly and obviously did not race well at nxn with a few guys sick. Really shouldn’t have bearing on whether UC, Westfield, Brookline, etc. get an at large if they place 3rd at NXR, assuming cba gets 1st. Doesn’t mean the NE will get an at large, but given the quality of teams this years it’s not out of the question that a 3rd place NE team deserves one. I could see it going 2 SE, 1 CA, and 1 NE. State meets and NXR meets over the next month will obviously play a major role…

2 SE at larges? Even the second SE autoqualifier won’t place high at NXN

Yeah, Episcopal wasn’t highly ranked last year. At NXR NE, I’d say they were a lucky second NXN autoqualifier.
Union Catholic was in second at the mile, but not only did they not have Wischusen, but one of their regular scorers, Weber, dropped so many places and didn’t score that day. Wilson dropped some places too. All that led to UC finishing 6th. But they only lost 2 seniors and got Wischusen back.
Don’t get me wrong, everyone at Episcopal performed very well at NXR (where it really mattered). They took advantage of this “wide open second place” opportunity.
I just saw that Isabelle Schmitz (6th in the Girl's race at NXR Heartland) was granted one of the five at-large bids for NXN! As a MN resident that makes me very, very happy!
