There's a running club at my college I just found out about, and the run today was at an awkward for me pace. It is a hobbyjogging club, but the faster people in it have 5k times in the 17s, and mine was 20:32, which I know is horrible by the standards of this site. But the point is, I thing the 17s 5k guys are the ones setting the pace at their easy pace, which for me ends up at about 7:40, just a little slower than my half marathon pace, which is hard to work into a real training schedule that can lead to improvement. So my dilemma is that I think it's fun to run with people, and that possibility is being handed to me on a silver platter, but it's at a pace that neither provides recovery nor a good workout. Is there any way to mix that in without hurting training too much?
