Ed Whitlock only ran in a cemetery and he set world records.
I've run in cemeteries in a couple different towns a handful of times. The people that were groundskeeping didn't seem to mind, they seemed happy to see me, in fact.
Abe's Amble and the Lincoln Presidential Half Marathon in Springfield, IL run through Oak Ridge Cemetary where Abe Lincoln's tomb is. It often attracts runners because of this and it has a fair amount of hills for cornland USA. I wouldn't even think twice about it to be real honest if it was me. Just be courtious and respectful.
It is the only place without cars, dog walkers, bikes and hobbyjoggers.
I've run in cemeteries for decades and never had a problem until a few years ago when, contradictory to your post, dog owners decided it was a great place to let their dogs run loose.

See those headstones? Those are from families and loved ones who lost someone too soon and all you care about is the life you have on literally those people's dead bodies. It's pretty bad.
I have done several races in which part of the course went through a cemetery. It’s nice for the race organizers because it reduces the need for road closures. It’s nice for the runners because it’s generally shady and scenic. As long as you stick to the roads and paths and don’t run over any graves, it seems perfectly fine.
Ya I thimk it is wrong because I hit metaphorical homeruns there with nickel or more lucrative pieces and don't want people who could be looking in to disturb.
