I'm sure that people in other countries watching the towers fall, shrugged their shoulders and turned off the TV too.
We KNOW people ignored the holocaust. Good Germans and all that.
I don't see how you can be a human being with a soul and not care about what is going on, and if you are American, how you can't be paying attention to our role in it.
1400 Israelis were killed and 200+ people including children are currently hostages. Now Israel is on the precipice of a of a full on genocide as a result. Thousands of lives are being destroyed and lost, and America has the power to--and is not--calling for a cease fire.
Whether Israeli, Palestinian, a New Yorker in 2001, a Kashmiri, a Uyghur, a Ukrainian, an Iraqi, an Afgani-- this could be you. You aren't free from one day becoming a disposable pawn for the powers that be. I say pay attention, care about what you are seeing.
Not caring in the OP’s hyper-performative look at me register is a sad consequence of the tension between “rahrah my country right or wrong” and “eff me what to do about this intense social pressure to pretend that what I see isn’t evil”

Other than virtue signaling, what are you doing about it?

So, you would send your son/daughter to fight for Israel/Ukraine/Afghanistan/Iraq, etc. (It's easier to list the countries the U.S. hasn't invaded, bombed, etc.). I surely would not.
And you would be ok with them returning in a bag? But it was for a good cause, right?
Bull_ _ _ _ ! We should protect our own and leave others alone. We give BILLIONS away while Americans starve on our own streets. We need a hard reset on society.
The news is CANCER. Haven't watched or cared for decades now. F them....
About as nice as it is for you. You losing your mind over it on the internet 24/7 for weeks on end has about the same effect as OP not giving a f*ck about it. And it triggers you to know that not everyone is wasting their lives on this.

Thats why I find it hard to care. This is just the same old story that is always happening somewhere around the world. Always gonna be some religious or nationalist nutters who commit atrocious violent acts towards people who don’t deserve it.
It makes some of us numb to the headlines. Not much I can do except try and be kind to the people I meet in my day-to-day life.
I cared about the Hamas terrorist attack, but I don't care about the missiles raining down on Gaza. I did see a video of a petrified dog that was shaking after being pulled from the rubble and that nearly had me in tears.

As much as I want to be informed and I think it's important to know what's going on, I also realise that realistically, unless I'm going to do something it makes little to no difference. Humans weren't designed to know what's going on in every single country around the world, all of the time. Life just doesn't work like that. It does now, I guess. I care and I want to care but at the same time, most people simply don't do anything so what difference does it make?
It's terribly frustrating. I tune out for the reasons of the madness of it all, and I am not good and joining a team. All sides are lying but it bothers me most when the side I am affiliated with, by my circumstances, lies and coddles propaganda, or abuses or strategically neglects its power.

I remember 9/11. I was eating a tuna sandwich whilst off from school.

Perfect response. We need to reprioritize. “Protect our own and leave others alone” yes, x1000
The U.S. should follow his lead. How about helping your own people before sending BILLIONS and BILLIONS of dollars each year to countries that hate us…. Cause we sanction, invade, and bomb them.
When people fight back and a 9/11 happens, people here freak out. This country is responsible for more 9/11 type attacks than most if not all countries.
Heck…. We elected fat Trump president… a buffoon game show host. He sucked so bad Joe frickin Biden beat him in an election.
American Revolution II - It cannot happen soon enough.
