I'm a 40yo man (not a child). Currently 6ft 2in and 188 lbs.
Now here's the fascinating thing--my body REALLY wants to be 188 lbs.
I raced in college at 160lbs, but it took a strict diet and negligible drinking to stay there. Regardless of exercise level, my body wants to be mid to high 180s. Haven't trained seriously since college, eating and drinking whatever I want and always stay at 188. Got in serious shape for an event 2 years ago, got down to 172. Back to eating and drinking whatever I want past 2 years, right back to 188.
But here's where it gets interesting--I steadily gained from 172 back to 188, but I don't go higher than 188. It's like I can do whatever I want, i'll be 188---if I exercise more I look better; if I get lazy for 6 mos I look flabbier--but always 185 to 190.
Anyone else have to diet hard to get "race shape" but don't blow up too much no matter what??
