People coming up with that estimate have clearly never been to the Maldives. Probably closer to $40K USD. Two biz class flights about 15K. OWVs run around $2,000+ per night at most top resorts. Food is around $100 per day per person. Seaplane or yacht transfer another 1K person. All of the activities like diving, deep sea fishing, etc. are extra. It's one of the most expensive places to vacation in the world.
Maybe he got some free stuff because he's famous? My husband and I probably spent nearly that much in today's dollars for our 2009 honeymoon in Kauai, and honestly, it was nice, but nothing crazy. Granted Hawaii is expensive.
That's very reasonable for a wedding in Norway. My wedding was more like £23.7 million (about $34 million). Most of it security which the taxpayer picked up for me.
